As a pharmacist, I often used to come across young patients wanting to get on anabolic steroids to look good and put on mass. There’s a lot of men in the online communities that advocate for their use. Especially in a world filled with xenoestrogens, an estrogen imitator found in almost everything. It is also true that there’s a generational decline in men’s normal testosterone levels due to number of factors ranging from environmental, unemployment, inactivity, health and a spike in depression.
The Risk
Despite all this, I discourage the use of anabolic steroids for young men. The use of steroids does not justify countering the generational decline in testosterone. It is an extreme, unnecessary measure that shuts down your body’s natural endogenous testosterone production. While exposing you to a number of potential health concerns ranging from hypertension, cholesterol, staph infections and infertility just to name a few. Anabolic steroids are a necessity for older men where they experience a drastic decline in their endogenous testosterone levels.
If you think your testosterone levels are low and you’re in your early 20’s, get a blood test to confirm. If your levels are sitting above 600ng/dl, then I would not consider using steroids. Maintain a good diet, train heavy and keep a low body fat. You want to maintain a level above 600ng/dl until you are at the age of 30. Then check the decline before supplementing with steroids.
The Exception
An exception is if you are in your 20’s and your levels are below 600ng/dl. I would consider using 250mg Testosterone Enanthate injection every 7-12 days. The frequency of injection will depend on your body and its ability to maintain a desired level (600-850ng/dl). Most of my customers (aged between 28-40) used to inject it every 10 days.
This information is a guide only and as a pharmacist I recommend you to speak to your doctor. I am also advising men here who seek to be active and train to maintain a well shaped body. This information is not for bodybuilders and I discourage any man here to pursue that kind of apex value. The amount of steroids, growth hormones, diuretics and anti-cancer drugs you have to take as a bodybuilder is far beyond what you would expect just to be able to compete on stage.
If you do want to use steroids despite not needing to, then do your own research with regards to this matter. You want to seek professional advice from personal trainers that have been in the industry themselves (and inject steroids themselves). Stay away from bodybuilding forums and chat rooms, and never purchase steroids from the black market. You don’t know what the drug constituents are diluted with. The safest steroids are the ones purchased off the pharmacy shelves. Take a look at Illimitable Man’s GUIDE on testosterone therapy for more accurate information.
